The best part about photography is the fun and excitement that I share with my clients when I photograph them. Let's look at Hallee's session!
Photography has forever been my passion, and ever since I got the chance to pursue it as Shelbyville Senior Photographer, the journey has been ever-so-fulfilling. I love how my days are filled with contagious excitement and energy, meeting new people, and the opportunity to channelize my creativity. Precisely, I am having the time of my life doing what I love, and the fun always escalates when I get to work with incredible people like Hallee.
As a photographer, my foremost concern is capturing the vibe of my clients. I believe in connecting with them and learning about their personalities to help me later when I capture them in my portraits. With Hallee's cheerful and fun side, I instantly connected with her. She provided me with a chance to use my skills while capturing her innocence and beauty into my work of art. During the session, we didn't drift for a single moment and worked together to create a truly incredible session. The kind of session that will stay with both of us for years to come.
A Little About Hallee
Hallee is a senior at Oldham County High School in Crestwood, Kentucky. She spends most of her time with her family and friends. Her pets include two dogs and a gecko lizard, and she is often found near the pool, where she loves hanging out with her friends. Hallee works as a babysitter at a daycare. Most of her days are spent babysitting, which explains her personality's sweet and empathetic side that I discovered during the session. Her charming smile and bright eyes reflect the kindness of her heart - that I loved capturing in her photos. She's truly a charming lady, and that is quite beautifully evident in all of her portraits.
First, we had a fun chat about Hallee's expectations and suggestions for the session. Using her insights on the kind of location she wanted , we explored different options. Hallee then went on to choose Yew Dell Botanical Gardens in Crestwood and Duncan Memorial in LaGrange as her locations for the session.
Yew Dell had a gorgeous park-like setting she wanted, making it a perfect choice through and through. In contrast, Duncan Memorial was even more special because her parents got married there, so quite naturally, she felt a connection there. Our decision and vision were to have her prom dress at Duncan Memorial along with a change of multiple outfits and various looks at Yew Dell to give variety in her photos.
The Session At Yew Dell
The session started at Yew Dell, where I instantly found some perfect locations. By the time we had turned to what would be the 4th stop, it became interesting when it started to rain. Hallee's parents and my assistant took cover under the pavilion. While Hallee stood under the arbor nice and dry, I captured the delightful background in some truly amazing portraits of her. Since she was tucked in under the arbor nice and dry; I seized the time and got some super exciting shots. I won't be lying if I say those were my favorite moments from the session!
We headed to our next destination when the rain stopped, and Hallee changed into her next outfit. The double rows of trees there made it quite an incredible setting I had forgotten about. I got to capture great shots there, and the best part was that Hallee loved what I captured.
To say that the session was a success would be an understatement. Everything – from the subject to the location to the outfits – was perfectly perfect. Yew Dell came out as quite a fantastic location for Hallee's session, and to make the most out of every spot, I took stops at every other turn. We barely walked throughout the session because every turn made for the attractive setting that I envisioned the outcome I was looking for, and we didn't miss any opportunity! Our Yew Dell session ended at the old house and in the courtyard.
Next Stop - Duncan Memorial
The next stop – the Duncan Memorial again had some picturesque settings, and I made sure that we made the most of them too! The Lake at the Duncan had the best aesthetics, and considering we had the permission to take photographs there, I captured picture-perfect moments of Hallee there, as well.
Like most of the students in 2020 who didn't get the chance to go to prom, Hallee, too, had imagined her prom day. Our plan was to include her never-worn prom dress in the photographs at the lake, and it was truly a remarkable pairing adding a fresh and unique vibe to all of her portraits.
As a photographer, I am always open to suggestions from my clients. It helps me create my vision, and their insights provide them a reason to make their session their own! I was overjoyed to include Hallee's mom’s chair as part of the décor for the prom dress. The chair took the feel of the photographs a notch-higher, and the results came out to be truly astonishing!
For the last stops, we headed to the chapel and captured pictures in all its nooks and crannies. From the texture, cobblestone to the architecture – the chapel had the perfect aesthetics for Hallee's session. We loved capturing some picturesque shots in the park-like setting - some with the cobblestones, others with the beautiful architecture in the background. This created a lovely effect and highlighted her prom dress, which she loved. The fact that Hallee's parents and her boyfriend were there, they saw the session in the making, enjoying through behind the scenes of the session, which commemorates our experience quite nicely. If that's not all, their experience makes seeing the final results more fun and enjoyable.
All in all, Hallee was a pure delight to work with. Her soft features, even-toned skin, beautiful straight hair, and radiant smile stands out in the portraits. I love how her calm and balanced personality shows through in the photos and blends well in the feel of the portraits. This was one of my favorite sessions, and the best part was that my client was delighted by both the session itself and the end results of her senior portraits.
What Hallee Thinks
"I loved having Stephanie take my senior year photos. I was a little confused about which photographer to choose because this session means a lot to me, and I wanted to make the right decision. I am so glad that I choose Stephanie! She was extremely sweet, accommodating, and had great ideas that we used. I was blown away by the results! My family loves my portraits, too. My mom wants to hang them around the house (haha). I showed them to my friends, and now they want her to do their sessions too! I would highly recommend her services! I think she's the best photographer in Shelbyville!" – Hallee Breslin
